"Social" Media 0_0
Why i dont use TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat and all that stuff
I feel like nobody likes spending their time on "social" media. It's made to waste your time and show you as many Ads as possible. The reason everyone went there is to catch up with their friends and see posts from people you knew. Is that, what anyone uses instagram or Tiktok today?
Most people say they would like to spend less time on their phone, but noone actually does. Did you try to delete all you time-waster-apps and ended up reinstalling them? It's because your phone is too addictive and you can't.
I want to experience the world without being plugged into to matrix constantly, so i try to leave my phone at home as much as possible. And these are the problmes and solutions that pop up when you leave your home without the internet for the first time (that sounds fucking sad).
What i do against it
you won't read anything you haven't heard already but these are my strategies to live without a smartphone
All the functions you NEED
Phones have a lot of actually useful functions you need and that is the bigges hurdle for people to ditch their phone all together.
- Camera -> get a real camera. The pictures it takes are way better anyway. Also, do you really look at a photo you took on your phone a second time? If you have to fish for a real camera, you will be more invested and take better and more meaningfdul pictures. For extra flair: get an old film camera. But be careful, the camera might be cheap but film gets expensive quickly. If you have not a lot of space, a point'n'shoot will do nicely
- Banking -> do you really need you online banking with you all the time? Its enough to do at home
But what if i get a message?
They can wait a few hours. Messages are rarely so urgent you can't afford to miss them
If I really HAVE to take my phone with me
Sometimes you can't do without. Public transport here only offers digital tickets, so i have to take my phone with me. What do i do now?
- Switch you phone to silent
- Put it away somewhere you will forget it (and not lose it)
- Take something else to distract you
